Muddle a sugar cube, a few dashes of bitters, a splash of club soda, and a twist of lemon peel and orange peel together in a highball glass until the sugar is dissolved.

(Many Old Fashioned recipes call for the peels as garnish at the end, but I prefer to muddle with the sugar for a little more flavor).

Fill the glass with crushed ice and add rye whiskey to nearly the top of the glass. Add another splash of club soda and stir. Garnish with a maraschino cherry, if you so desire.

Now, drink it like an old man.

Full list of ingredients:
- Green olives
- Aged Danish blue cheese
- Ice cubes
- Schweppes Club Soda
- Noilly Pratt Dry Vermouth
- Belvedere Vodka

List of needed materials:
- A large, traditional martini glass
- A wooden toothpick
- A kitchen knife
- A small spoon
- A hammer
- A towel
- Stainless steel cocktail shaker

Method:

Wrap some ice cubes in the towel and bash them with the hammer until they are crushed into quarters or so. Fill the entire martini glass with crushed ice. Now pour club soda into the glass, filling the glass. Set the glass aside for the moment.

Pour a few ounces of dry vermouth into a cocktail shaker and swirl it around, making sure the entire inside of the shaker is covered. Then pour out the vermouth, leaving just a coating on the shaker. Now smash up some more ice cubes and fill about 3/4 of the shaker with them. Ensure that the Belvedere vodka is ice cold, then pour it into the shaker. Vigorously shake the shaker, until it literally feels ice cold in your hands. Then shake it some more.

Pour the ice and club soda out of the martini glass, then strain the martini into the glass. The trace of club soda will allow the traces of vermouth to cling to the glass so you'll get a bit of its taste with each sip.

Now use the kitchen knife to squeeze the pits out of two olives. Then use a small spoon to fill the olives with the aged Danish blue cheese. Place the olives on the toothpick and drop into the drink.

All that's left to do now, is to sit back and enjoy the perfect vodka martini. Go ahead, its well worth it!
