Make sure your glass, Gin and Vermouth are chilled to start. Add some cracked ice to the shaker, next 4 parts Gin, then 1 part Vermouth (Noilly Prat is by far the best). The next stages determine how perfect a Martini you make. Stir the contents (never shake; you've watched too many James Bond films if you do) and then strain into Martini glass. If you can strain it a second time, this takes out some more of the fragments of ice which can give the drink a sharpness. Finally the olive if you fancy. Life doesn't get any better
