Garnishes
Ice
Directions
Make sure your glass, Gin and Vermouth are chilled to start. Add some cracked ice to the shaker, next 2 measures Gin and finally half a measure Vermouth. The next stages determine how perfect a Martini you make. Stir the contents (never shake; you've watched too many James Bond films if you do) and then strain into Martini glass. If you can strain it a second time, this takes out some more of the fragments of ice which can give the drink a sharpness. Finally the olive if you fancy. Live doesn't get any better

The drink is easier to taste when it is stirred, shaking a martini cools the drink too much, and gin and vermouth need to be at room tempreture. Besides, I hate James Bond and his ancidote. Amaranth (1016 days ago)

Shaking a drink with ice fractures the ice, this chills the drink more than stirring, waters it down more, and can impact both flavor and mouthfeel due to the tiny shards of ice. booklegger451 (1022 days ago)

Why not shake? People go on about 'bruising' the gin, and how that's bad. How does one bruise gin? And what does bruised gin taste like anyway. I call bollocks! Shake that thang! onepixelsquare (1023 days ago)
bubble Too much vermouth. The best way is to put a little vermouth in the glass, swirl it around and then dump it out. Pour in the chilled vodka and garnish with peel. Don't put an olive in it - makes it taste oily. Serve olives on the side. JW1234 (1023 days ago)
