Muddle orange peel with 1.5 oz. Mount Gay rum and 1/4 oz. simple syrup. Remove the peel. Add 2 dashes of Regan's Orange Bitters and the ice and stir until chilled. Pour over fresh ice in an old-fashioned glass with a slice of orange and a cherry.
You can substitute Angostura bitters if you don't have Regan's.
