In a mug, combine 2 oz. of whiskey* with the juice from half a lemon and a teaspoon of honey†. Fill rest of mug with boiling water. Stir with a cinnamon stick, leaving the stick in the drink, then garnish with a lemon wedge studded with cloves and sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg on top. Let stand for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to mix and the drink to cool before drinking. Notes: * I usually use Irish whiskey in this drink because of its smooth flavor, but it can also be made with Scotch whisky, Canadian whisky, bourbon, brandy, or rum. † More honey may be added to taste. |
