1 part Brandy

1 part Lemon juice

2 parts brandy
1 part cointreau
1 part lemon juice

Shake all ingredients together in a shaker, with ice, and strain into a cocktail glass.

I agree that a Sidecar is something that everyone should try at least once. A little sweet, a little sour, and a nice kick. I do have a difference of opinion in the mix on this recipe. I have always used a 2:1:1 like Pirate's alternate recipe to the left, and that is a drink to make you realize the true pleasure of a well-made cocktail. - naslund (507 days ago)

If you haven't tried a sidecar, you should. It's an elegant, serious drink -- looks like hard stuff, and you can drink it in a lowball glass with ice or in a cocktail glass -- but it drinks very easy. Note that the ingredients are very flexible, and everyone makes it a different way. You always need the Brandy, and you always use a 1:1:1 ratio, but the Orange liqueur can be Cointreau or Triple Sec, and the juice can be lemon, lime, a combination, or just sour mix. - wheeler.benjamin (980 days ago)
