First combine 1 part gin with 1 part grenadine in a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Next combine 1 part gin with one part coffee ligueur in another mixing glass with ice and stir. Then gently add the coffee liqueur and gin to the cocktail glass by pouring it over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the gin and grenadine. Drop the cherry into the glass through the middle of the coffee liqueur and gin. Serve immediately.
If this much grenadine is too sweet for you taste, make the first layer smaller by using 0.5 parts grenadine and 0.5 parts gin.
