Add Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, and Bitters to a shaker filled with ice chips. Gently roll the ingredients in the shaker (do not shake vigorously). Pour over Maraschino Cherry into a martini glass.

Hi. I'm a sucker for Manhattans . . . This is the basic recipe, but I like to go more lightly on the vermouth, heavy on the bitters, and use 2 cherries (someone else will always want one). For bourbon newbies (and anyone who wants a slighly sweeter drink), it's more pleasant (heh) to add a spoonful of the juice from the maraschino cherry bottle. It's still somewhat an ass-kicking drink, and I know quite a few gentlemen who won't drink it themselves (but they'll take the liberty of stealing the maraschino cherry, which is why I recommend using two).
