Prepare a tumbler full of ice then add the vodka, next the Grapefruit juice (for best results, hand-pressed pink grapefruits), next add the salt. I prefer chunky sea salt. Lore has it this is originally a gin drink, however, I believe the Salty DOG is a Greyhound with salt. Some places serve it in a highball or collins glass, I prefer a lowball/tumbler and bars that do too!
